Joaquim Badia Arumi was born in Barcelona in 1993. At the age of seven he started his musical training as a clarinettist and a pianist at Oriol Martorell School, although he always showed an interest in composition. In 2009, he joined the Purcell School for Young Musicians, where he studied Composition under Haris Kittos and Piano under Andrew Ball. He continued on his musical studies at the Royal College of Music (London), where he held a DS Forbes Award. In 2014, he obtained an Erasmus Grant to study at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) under Denis Pascal. After obtaining his Bachelor's Degree in Music (First Class Hons) in 2015, Joaquim went on to study a Master's Degree in Composing for Film, TV and Video Games at Berklee College of Music (Valencia Campus). His music has been performed in most major venues in the UK and Barcelona. He has won several chamber music prizes and composition awards, including the BBC Young Composer of the Year in 2010 (runner-up). He currently lives in London, where he combines his freelance work with singing at London Symphony Chorus.
